Not As Addicted As I Thought

58%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

I thought it would be higher. Then again I'm sure I lost points for not blogging more often. Hey I'm not Mark Evanier, who has something worthwhile to say everyday. And I'm not the collective that runs if charlie parker was a gunslinger, there'd be a whole lot of dead copycats. I am one guy with two blogs (one of which he neglects terribly) and there's a strike on which means there's nothing new (and worthwhile) that I feel like writing about. Yeah, I know, excuses excuses.

Theme Song Quiz

I aced it of course!

The quiz comes from Mental Floss. There are 15 themes ranging from the ones that you'd be ashamed to miss to some relative obscurities. I only had trouble with two of them, and one was a show which I have never seen. It could have been a lot harder with some themes from more obscure shows. I mean who remembers the theme to, I don't know Nurses, which was part of a block with Empty Nest, and Golden Girls.

You scored as Capt. Lee Adama (Apollo). You have spent your life trying to life up to and impress your Dad, shame he never seemed to notice. You are a stickler for the rules. But in matters of loyalty and honour you know when they have to be broken.

This is about where I'd expected to fall on this quiz. Most Canadians would actually. A poll taken last year stated that if the ten Canadian provinces were American states, every one including Alberta would vote for the Democratic Party. Which may be one reason why George W. will never invade us.

I Think They Got Me Right

Alton Brown
Which Food Network chef are you?

brought to you by Quizilla

I've always sort of like Alton's approach to food on his various shows. Of course my greatest exposure to him has been on the American version of Iron Chef (the good American version, not the one they did on UPN with Shatner). At least I didn't turn out to be Bobby Flay - the only time I could stand Flay was when he was losing on Celebrity Poker Showdown and when he was doing a series called Grillin' & Chillin' with Jack McDavid which long ago vanished from Food Network's lineup.

I'm Just Not Sure My Liver Could Stand It

Saw this in a few places yesterday but I wanted the reminder about the Katrina teleton to stay up. Kudos to Linda, Sam, Ivan, and probably some others I've forgotten about for posting this.

William Powell
You scored 4% Tough, 33% Roguish, 14% Friendly, and 47% Charming!

You are the classic rogue, a stylish rake with the devil of a wit and a
flair for mischief, and you shake your martinis to waltz time. You are
charming and debonair, but slightly untrustworthy, and women should be
on their guard. If married, you are simply a bit of a flirt, even if
it's just with your own wife...but if you're single, watch out. You
usually rein yourself in to concentrate on one lovely beauty at a time,
but with you, we never know. You're an inviting partner, but there's a
playful devil behind your eyes, and those trying to get close to you
should know they're playing with fire. You're stylish and fun, but you
follow your own course, which may or may not include a steady gal.
Co-stars include Myrna Loy and Carole Lombard, classy ladies with an
adventurous streak.

Wow. I was sort of hoping for Cary Grant in Notorious or North By Northwest but who could possibly object to Nick Charles. Not only did he get to sleep with Carole Lombard in real life too - they were married - he was engged to Jean Harlow and seeing a picture of his third wife, Diana Lewis, makes you realise that he did pretty well off screen as well. Remember, shake that martini in waltz time.

Porky Pig?

While some of my other blogging buddies were doing the comedian test I found this one (okay, okay, Jaime Weineman found it, I mooched it off of his blog). Porky Pig, huh. Well that's impossible - I don't have a speech impedi... speech impedi... I talk real good. Could have been worse - I could have ended up as Buddy (real old school Warners character, duller than dishwater).

Porkey Pig!
You scored 28 Aggression, 100 Sophistication, and 28 Optimism!

Non-aggressive, possibly shy, dapper, well-mannered, and likely far too hard on yourself, you are the prototypical conscientious friend who too often gets taken advantage of. Generally you don't like to make a fuss and are more or less adverse to risk-taking. There are those out there who make entire careers out of manipulating people like you, and you should be very weary of them. Regardless, try taking a few risks and definitely stick up for yourself more. Maybe quit your safe but boring job, or ask that special person out. You are someone of high moral character and probably deserve far more out of life than you are settling with.

My Perfect Women!?

So my blogging buddy Tim Gueguen had this link in his blog to a site called Celebmatch which uses "the scientific method of biorhythms to calculate the compatibilities" between you and various celebrities. Tim holds that biorhythms are bunk, and I basically agree. What this site does seems less like Biorhythms, and more like cheap astrology to me though. Enter your birthdate and they will tell you which five celebrities (you can choose male or female) you match up with best, and if you click on their names you will see who you are most compatible with physically, emotionally and intellectually. All from your birth date. You can also see how you match with other celebrities. So here's who they said I was best suited for:
  1. Ellen DeGeneres 98%
  2. Anita Baker 98%
  3. Crystal Gayle 98%
  4. Star Jones 98%
  5. Beth Broderick 97%
Apparently part of the matching process is to find someone close to my own age, which is silly. I'm a man - I want younger.

(BTW: This post is also an experiment with Blogger's new image feature. So far not bad.

Another Quiz Thing

This time I'd like to think it really does reflect my artistic opinions though, although I don't know that I'm that enthusiastic about sadistic humour.

You scored as Drama/Suspense. Congratulations, you scored Drama. You don't need special effects as long as you have great direction, acting and a conflicting story. The inside look at human nature is what makes a movie for you. Check out: 21 Grams, Mystic River, Reservoir Dogs, Tape.

I Don't Know...

The questions for this thing don't really cover what this blog does or is about but since I haven't written a thing for my other blog in months I tried to answer the questions as they fit this one.

On the other hand I do like that two sentence evaluation, but I clearly have an ego.
